Here is how to fix “google chrome updates are disabled by the administrator”.
If your google updates are disabled by the administrator so you can’t update, Don’t worry anymore here is the solution! It’s very easy and it only takes 5 minutes to fix this issues.
Step 01. Go to Windows Start Button on the left bottom and Click on Run.
Step 02. Type in regedit on the run.
Step 03. go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Update
Step 04. Double Click on the UpdateDefault
Step 05. Change the value from 0 to 1.
Step 06. Restart your Chrome Browser and try to update again.
Wait, Have you tried to reset Google Chrome ? Try reset to fix the issue !
Doesnt work… Had to reinstall Chrome to get new update. But still says disabled.
Have you tried to run google chrome using administrator rights ?
Simply, before you double click the google chrome icon, do a right click on it, then select “Run as administrator”.
We are not sure if this will work, but give it a try!

it works. if anyone still has problems with it after doing what this guy says double click DisableAutoUpdate and set value to 0. this should allow you to update your browser. TRUST ME, i had to do this on mine to get it running.

What if you’re running Windows 8?
1. Bring your mouse cursor to the top right edge of the screen
2. It will bring up hidden Windows 8 menu, Click magnifying glass icon.
3. Type “regedit” and follow the instructions in the post.

Okay so i got into the Local Machine, but my google folder does not have anything that says update.
I’m on windows 7
It looked like it was updating but when it stopped it went right back to “Disabled by Administrator.”

Sounds like you are logged in as a user account. Try to login as administrator account.

Silly author. If admins are blocking updates it’s for a reason. Your poor advice here will get someone terminated. If you are on a corporate machine just leave things alone. Put in a service ticket with your helpdesk to get an upgrade.
