When you plug in a charging adapter, does your Samsung device say “slow charging?” – Here is how to troubleshoot the charging issue with Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets

Good morning everyone, it’s P&T. Today, we are going to talk about mobile device charging problems. Modern smartphones, tablets, and other devices are supporting a fast charging (higher than 2A current) by allowing a higher current than 2Amps. More current flows, and the battery charges quicker, but lately we have noticed that our Samsung Galaxy S8 phone says “slow charging” when we plug the power adapter. We were wondering why this is happening, and this is why we are sharing this blog post to you!

How to fix slow charging

Here are the things you can try to make your device charges fast again. There are few factors that determines between slow & fast charging. A power adapter, a cable, a charging port problem, and an internal problem of your device.

1a rated power adapter

Are you using a genuine charging cable and a power adapter?

If you are using a cheap a power block, they might be rated at very low Amps. Probably less than 2 Amps. Make sure that your power adapter is able to works at higher Amps. (2A or more) Also, a cheap cable usually has very thin copper wire inside the cable. This also causes a slow charging your device. So, get a good quality adapter and a cable. If you have a genuine cable and adapter, make sure they are not defect.

dirty charging port

Check the charging port. Is it dusty or dirty?

This is very common with many electronic devices. A dirty charging port will cause the slow charging due to a poor conductivity. Clean your charging port with a 99% alcohol and a brush. Here is a web page link on how to clean charging port: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1pk2BspW_0

factory reset

If you still have a problem, it might be a software issue or an internal problem with your device

Before you bring your phone to a mechanic, do a backup, then try a factory reset on your device. Sometimes, software glitches cause the slow charging problem. If the factory reset is not helpful, it might be an internal hardware problem of your device.

We hope everyone fixed the slow charging issue by switching cables or adapters or by cleaning the dirty charging port. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment here! Thank you and have a nice day!
