In Outlook 2016, 2013 and 2007, do you get an error message saying that: none of the authentication methods supported by this client ?

I am sure that I have entered right email address, password, and email server information, but I do get the error message! What do I do? Hello! It is P&T IT BROTHER! Today, we are going to resolve this Outlook problem. We have not noticed about this error until last week, and we had this same problem with one of our customer. Our job was to setup Bell email with Microsoft Outlook 2007 version. It was an easy job for us, but there was an unexpected error message that we couldn’t understand at all! We did try to change Bell’s email server settings many times, as well as the email address and password… Nothing worked… So, we did research, and found out the solution that worked for us! 😀 😀 😀 What are we waiting for? Let’s get started!

Let’s fix the “none of the authentication methods supported by this client”

Before we start, we know that this error happens with Microsoft Outlook 2007, 2013, and 2016. If you are using one of the Outlook versions, this will work for you. We are using Microsoft Outlook 2007. Let’s go!

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook. (2016, 2013, or 2007)
  2. Click “Tools” and then “Account Settings” (Outlook 2007) Click “File” and “Info“, then under Account Information, click “Account Settings” (Outlook 2016, Outlook 2013)
  3. Find Outgoing Server Settings section.
  4. In here, you need to select an option named “Log on to incoming mail server before sending mail“.
  5. Now, try to send and receive mail again. It will now work!

So, all of you guys fixed the problem? If not, you can leave a comment here, we will try to help your Outlook problem. 😀 In our experience, most of the Microsoft Outlook errors are related to wrong email server configurations. Means that you can fix most of the Outlook errors by correcting the email server settings. (sometimes it is related to your Internet Service Providers or Firewall..)
