Disabling lock screen on Windows 8 (Registry & Group Policy)

Today, We are going to share how to get rid off the automatic lock screen on Windows 8 using the registry & group policy. Please follow the instruction below to disable the lock screen.

 

First Method. Registry

Step 01. Go to Windows Start Menu > Run

Step 02. Type redegit

Step 03. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Personalization

Step 04. Right Click anywhere in the right pane > Create DWORD (32-bit) Value.

 

Step 05. Name it as NoChangingLockScreen

Step 06. Double Click the DisableLockWorkstation value > Change the value data to 1 from 0.

 

Second Method. Group Policy

Step 01. Go to Windows Start Menu > Run

Step 02. Type gpedit.msc

Step 03. Click on the Local Group Policy Editor

Step 04. Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > ControlPanel > Personalization

Step 05. Click on Prevent changing lock screen image

Step 06. Change the setting to Disable.
