With this tip that we have, you can connect to a computer in America, Asia, Africa, Europe, or anywhere on earth where there is internet connection available. Yes. We need internet connection available of course! That is the only requirement to remotely access to a different computer in different place. There are many ways of doing it, but in this tip, we are going to use a software called “TeamViewer”. The reason is, it is easy to use for everyone. Other remote access software or other ways are little bit hard to use, and you need knowledge in IT. Most importantly, it works for both Windows and Mac! What are we waiting for? Let’s find out how!
Before Start..
– In order to make this work, both “source” and “destination” computers need the TeamViewer software installed
– The “source” and “destination” computers need internet connection
– Teamviewer works on both “Windows” and “Mac” computers
1. Download TeamViewer Software
- Go to “www.teamviewer.com” website.
- Click “Download” button to start downloading TeamViewer.
- Once download is finished, install the application on your computer.
- If you are going to use it as personal use, choose “Basic Installation” and “Personal Use Only”. If you are going to use it for your business, you need to choose “Commercial Use”.
2. Installation is finished – Let’s learn how to use TeamViewer
Your ID: This is your unique 9 digit ID numbers to access to your current computer.
Password: This is your password to access your current computer. This changes every time you restart TeamViewer.
Partner ID: In here, you can type in 9 digit ID numbers of your partner (or destination computer)
Connect to partner: Click this button to connect to your partner’s computer.
So, if you want to connect remotely to your partner’s computer, (YOU -> PARTNER)
- Your partner needs TeamViewer application installed.
- Ask your partner to run TeamViewer application.
- Ask for your partner’s ID.
- Ask for your partner’s Password.
- Enter the ID in the Partner ID field.
- Click “Connect to partner” button to connect.
- Enter your partners Password.
- Connected!
if you want your partner to connect to your computer remotely, (PARTNER -> YOU)
- Tell your partner your ID.
- Tell your partner your Password.
- On your partner side, your partner will enter your ID and Password to connect.
- Connected!
With TeamViewer application, you don’t need to do anything to your router, or to your computer. If the source and the destination computers have TeamViewer installed, it will work!
I need to connect to the destination computer whenever I want, How do I do that?
Yes. There is a way for you to connect to the destination computer remotely whenever you want. By default, TeamViewer application will give you a different password every time you restart TeamViewer. Like this, you cannot access to the destination computer without someone at the destination telling you the new password, but, there is a way!
Click “Extras” and click “Options”. Under “General” tab, check “Start Teamviewer with Windows”, then this will display a window like the picture above. Set the password that you want to use to connect to this computer. You are now done! You can now connect to this computer whenever you want using the password that you entered here. There are only two requirements: 1. Computer must be turned on 2. Internet connection
