(It is only for people who use Google Chrome) Some extensions are really helpful, but having too many extensions will cause slower internet performance. In Google Chrome, you can disable extensions or remove them permanently. So, if you think you have too many extensions, you should watch this. Let’s do it!

SMC RESET TOUCH BAR MACBOOK

01. Please make sure that your MacBook shut off completely. Go to Apple Logo > Shut Down.

02. When your Mac is turn off, Press and Hold SHIFT + CONTROL + OPTION + POWER BUTTON (The Touch ID is a power Button.) for 10 Seconds.

03. After 10 seconds, you can release all keys.

04. Now Press the Power button (your Touch ID) to turn on!

Hopefully the problem is figured out by resetting SMC!

Hello everyone~ it’s P&T. We are writing a nice blog post today. It is about a computer memory. When you are looking at a computer spec, have you seen something like 8GB, and 16GB? This is the amount of memory on that computer! More memory will help the main processor work faster! Also, you can work on more applications at the same time without slowing down your computer performance. Of course, more memory will cost more money! In technical terminology, it is RAM. Random Access Memory. What is Random Access Memory? First, it has ability to read, write, and memorize. It does memorize information on a certain place on the memory, and no matter where it is, it takes same amount of time to access. Not like the hard drives, but all the memorized information will be deleted if the power supply stops. A hard drive stores and remembers all the information without any power supply. Anyways, if you are experiencing blue screen issues, freezing issues and any unstable behaviours, you should test your RAM. How to do it? Here is how!

Here is how to test your computer memory (RAM)

• We are going to use an application called “MemTest86”. Go to https://www.memtest86.com/ website to download the application.

• When you go to download page, you will see that there are USB or ISO for both Windows and Linux. Download whatever you prefer. If you prefer to butn the MemTest86 on a DVD, download the ISO file, and if you like to burn the MemTest86 on a USB, download the USB file. In this example, we are going to burn it on a USB drive.

• After extracting the compressed file, open “ImageUSB” file. This is a USB booting disk creator for MemTest86. Insert a USB drive, and choose your USB drive on the top section, and choose “Write image to USB drive, then click “Write”. This will install MemTest86 on your USB drive.

• After installing MemTest86 on your USB, restart your computer, and boot from the USB drive. You can now begin the memory(RAM) test. If it finds any errors, it will let you know. Typically, if your RAM is okay, you shouldn’t see any errors.

Hello, and good afternoon everyone! Today, what we are going to do is to learn how to scan for computer virus and how to get rid of them. People say computer virus, because computer virus was really popular in early generation who had personal computers (1990~). At that time, more than 90% things that damages your personal computer were by computer virus. Malware, Spyware, Trojan, and any other harmful programs were rare to find. Most of the computer virus was designed to destroy your personal computer, make your computer slower. Some of them were designed to steal information or designed to sneak in to your computer. Virus – A computer virus is a type of malicious software program (“malware”) that, when executed, replicates itself by modifying other computer programs and inserting its own code. Infected computer programs can include, as well, data files, or the “boot” sector of the hard drive. When this replication succeeds, the affected areas are then said to be “infected” with a computer virus.

Trojan Horse – Trojans are generally spread by some form of social engineering, for example where a user is duped into executing an e-mail attachment disguised to be unsuspicious, (e.g., a routine form to be filled in), or by drive-by download. Although their payload can be anything, many modern forms act as a backdoor, contacting a controller which can then have unauthorized access to the affected computer. Trojans may allow an attacker to access users’ personal information such as banking information, passwords, or personal identity (IP address). Ransomware attacks are often carried out using a Trojan.

Spyware – Spyware is software that aims to gather information about a person or organization without their knowledge, that may send such information to another entity without the consumer’s consent, or that asserts control over a device without the consumer’s knowledge.

Worm – A computer worm is a standalone malwarecomputer program that replicates itself in order to spread to other computers. Often, it uses a computer network to spread itself, relying on security failures on the target computer to access it. Worms almost always cause at least some harm to the network, even if only by consuming bandwidth, whereas viruses almost always corrupt or modify files on a targeted computer.

Ransomeware – Ransomware is a type of malicious software from cryptovirology that threatens to publish the victim’s data or perpetually block access to it unless a ransom is paid. While some simple ransomware may lock the system in a way which is not difficult for a knowledgeable person to reverse, more advanced malware uses a technique called cryptoviral extortion, in which it encrypts the victim’s files, making them inaccessible, and demands a ransom payment to decrypt them. In a properly implemented cryptoviral extortion attack, recovering the files without the decryption key is an intractable problem – and difficult to trace digital currencies such as Ukash and Bitcoin are used for the ransoms, making tracing and prosecuting the perpetrators difficult.

Adware – advertising-supported software, is any software package that automatically renders advertisements in order to generate revenue for its author.

There are more, but those types of virus are the most common types in modern computer world. So, for people who are not a computer expert, the easiest way to ensure that you are clear is to install an anti-virus or an anti-malware apps. Most of them provides real-time protection, and manual virus scan features. Here we are introducing some of free anti-virus programs for Windows. Are you looking for one for Mac? Here is how to reset Macbook OS X Password (Reset password with Terminal Utility)

Don’t worry. Not like Windows based computers, you do not need any tools to reset your forgotten password on a Macbook. All you need is how to do it. Here is how to reset password without resetting the whole OS X. By accessing the Recovery Mode, and entering a command using Termial utility will let you reset passwords. Let’s do it!

• When you see the Apple logo, press and hold “Command” + “R” keys together until it brings up the macOS Utilities.

• Click “Utilities” and then click “Terminal“. This will open a terminal where you can enter commands just like Windows Command Prompt.

• Type “resetpassword” and that’s it! No more commands to enter. You don’t need to be a computer expert to do this one. Don’t forget to hit enter key after typing.

• Now, it is time to reset your Macbook password. Choose an account that you want to change password. In this case, we only have one account, and therefore, we only see one account.

• Type new password, and type the same password one more time to confirm. Also, you can type a hint for your password. It will be helpful for you to remember password when you forget this password in the future.

• You are done! Restart your Macbook.

• OS X may ask you about the Keychain. If you forgot your previous Keychain, you will need to create a new Keychain. Click “Create New Keychain“.

imap server issues – I have Gmail account, and I am having problem with my email client program (like Outlook 2016/2013/2007, Windows Live Mail, Windows based phones, Android Mail, iOS Mail …) Cannot receive or send email with my Gmail account! Gmail stopped working!

Hello everyone.. Today’s topic is about email. What email ? There are so many email service providers, but we are going to talk about Gmail today. Why we talk about Gmail instead of other email like Yahoo, and Hotmail ? It’s because, right now we know that so many people are struggling with their Gmail account. Only for the people who use email software instead of web based email. Here is how we noticed this issue. One of our client is a real estate, and in the real estate office, they use a software that sends thousands of message to their real estate agents. That’s not a problem. The problem occurred in 2016. For that software that they use, we were using a Gmail account to send emails. It was working great until 2016 comes. Suddenly, no messages being sent, and there were complaints from real estate agents. They called us, and we had to find out why the messaging software stopped working all of a sudden. We tried to use different email, and it worked, but they really preferred to use their own Gmail account. We had to find out why. So, we called the software developer for troubleshooting, and it took almost 3 hours… the result ? No. We couldn’t fix it. We did change firewall settings, routers, and antivirus software, but all did not resolve the Gmail issue. We called Google, and it did not take a long time to find out why it stopped working. They knew the solution. Let’s find out how!!!!

How to fix Gmail is not working problem on your Outlook 2016/2013/2007, and all other email clients (including iOS, Android, and Windows based devices)

To let you know, this could happen on any computers or phones if you are using a third party email client (or software), but don’t worry. it is easy to fix. First, you do not need to change any email client’s configuration. In this case, the problem is not on your computer. Also, on some email clients, the error message could be different. So, if your Gmail account stopped working all of a sudden, let’s try this solution first before you change any config on your email client. All you need to do is to login to your Gmail, and changing a setting. That’s it. We are not joking. We are serious.

1. Let’s login to your Gmail. Go to google.com or google.ca to sign in.

2. Once you are logged in, look at the top right section of Google website, click your initial, then click “My Account“. We are going to change a setting to make your Outlook working again.

3. In here, you will notice that there are many different options like personal, preference, and security. Click “Sign-in & security“.

4. Scroll down until you see “Connected apps & sites“. Do you see the “Allow less secure apps” ? The default value is OFF. Turn it ON! You cannot find this option ? If you are using 2 steps verification login method, it is normal that you will not see this option. Don’t worry.

5. Now, let’s try your email client again. It will work.

Google is saying that:

Google may block sign-in attempts from some apps or devices that do not use modern security standards. Since these apps and devices are easier to break into, blocking them helps keep your account safe.

Some examples of apps that do not support the latest security standards include:

• The Mail app on your iPhone or iPad with iOS 6 or below
• The Mail app on your Windows phone preceding the 8.1 release
• Some Desktop mail clients like Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird

Like the fact above, if you are using older email apps, you will be in trouble, and you will need to turn on the allow less secure app feature in your Google account.

What if I still have the email problem ?

We understand that this solution might not work for your email problem. In that case, please make sure that your incoming and outgoing server use secured connection. Some of internet service providers now do not allow the regular ports for receiving and sending email (like port 25, and 110) because of security issues. Make sure that you use SSL/TLS connection for your in/out email servers. It is normally 995 for incoming email server and 465 for outgoing email server, but to be accurate, look for the email server settings of your email service provider on the internet.
